Meriam has been the General Office Assistant since June 1998 when BIOSS SA moved into Foundation House, the BIOSS offices in Bedfordview. She takes responsibility for the general housekeeping which includes not only the cleaning of offices but she also sees to the serving of refreshments for visitors at the office. When meetings are held and training is offered she ensures that everything is prepared for the serving of meals. Meriam also keeps stock of cleaning and catering supplies and she assists the receptionist in monitoring who enters and exits the premises for security purposes.
Previously Meriam worked as a domestic helper in Johannesburg for many years. She grew up in Qua-Qua in the Free State where her family still lives today.
